While the booking website might have been a tad light on details, I'm here to fill in the gaps and share what you can expect during your day there. Upon arrival, you'll check in at the gate and sign in at the front desk. This is where your adventure truly begins. You'll meet your driving coach, who will tailor your experience based on your driving level. Whether you're a seasoned driver or a complete novice, they ensure your experience is personalized. My coach, Ross Moncton, an IMSA and motocross driver, was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. I highly recommend him if you're looking for someone who can adapt the session to your needs. The handling track is your first stop—a main track for lapping, located in the outermost lane with a pit lane at the bottom. Here, you'll get a few laps to ease into the car, with your coach guiding you on the breaking points. It's crucial to understand your car's grip limits and how hard you can push on corners. Next up is the low friction handling circuit, designed to boost your confidence. This circuit features extremely tight corners, where you'll begin to feel the car's understeering, a sign you're nearing the car's maximum grip. Your tires are engineered to load up at maximum lateral G's, and your objective is to achieve the highest average lateral G's. In the Dynamics area, you'll experience the raw acceleration and braking power of your Porsche. An 8-mile drag strip awaits, where you'll launch your car with launch control, brake hard, and feel the ABS kick in, giving you complete control over the vehicle. After several acceleration and brake runs, you'll move to the skid pad—a circular low friction zone. Here, you'll learn what understeer and oversteer feel like in a controlled environment. It's one thing to hear car reviewers discuss these concepts, but experiencing them firsthand is a whole different ball game, especially in a car with rear weight balance. The final challenge before returning to the main circuit is the kick plate. This track section will kick your rear wheels into a spin, and you'll need to react swiftly with your steering to keep the car straight—first with traction control and stability management on, and then with all assists off, making it a real test of your skills. Once you've mastered all these elements, you return to the one-mile handling circuit, where you put everything you've learned to the test on this tight and technical track. Each experience is unique, but my instructor drove a lap to show how much more I could improve, highlighting better lines and where to brake and accelerate. Overall, the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta offers a fantastic opportunity to drive a new Porsche around the track with expert instruction. However, it's not without its faults and may not be for everyone, including some very experienced drivers. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time, there were aspects that could be improved. Would I recommend the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta? Absolutely. The combination of driving a high-performance vehicle with professional guidance is unmatched. The check-in process was smooth, and we had the pleasure of meeting some of the dedicated Delta staff who shared the story behind the museum's transformation. Their passion and commitment to enhancing the visitor experience were evident from the start. The moment we stepped into the museum, it felt like we were entering a Disney attraction. The ambiance was electric, and the first stop was the "Taking Flight" theater. The way they highlighted customer service and care was inspiring, and the reveal of a single-engine plane at the end of the video was a spectacular touch. This partnership truly paid off, as the immersive design makes you feel like part of Delta's journey. After the theater, we ventured into the Legacy Hangar, where the history of Delta was brought to life through antique airplanes and interactive displays. This section is particularly kid-friendly, featuring an aircraft marshalling experience that allows kids to learn hand signals used in aviation. I couldn’t resist joining in on the fun! One standout feature was the “Delta in Motion” exhibit, showcasing miniature airplanes that rotate peacefully, reminiscent of toys from childhood. It was a serene spot to sit and soak in the atmosphere. The hangar also boasts a "Time Tunnel," a popular photo spot for new Delta hires and visitors alike. This aircraft has a heartwarming backstory: it was purchased through donations from Delta employees and retirees, making it a symbol of their dedication. We had the opportunity to step inside this iconic plane, which was a nostalgic experience for both of us. Inside, we marveled at the three-row seating and the old-school screens where passengers once watched movies together. It brought back memories of family flights when I was younger. The displays inside the plane shared stories of Delta's commitment to customer service and community, showcasing how integral the employees are to the airline's identity. One of the most exciting features of the museum is the [Boeing 737](http://www.b737.org.uk/history.htm) full-motion flight simulator. Although it requires an additional fee, it’s an experience unlike any other. You get a pre-flight walkthrough from an actual pilot and then 45 minutes of flight time. Unfortunately, I opted out this time due to feeling a bit shaky, but I can't wait to return and give it a go! While I was hesitant, Megan decided to take a break and grab a bite to eat at the food truck outside, which offered delicious pizza. We took some great photos in front of the old planes while munching on our lunch, soaking in the aviation-themed atmosphere. As we wrapped up our visit, we were gifted some wonderful items, including a stunning Delta 100th anniversary whiskey glass and Delta trading cards. These collectibles are a fun way to remember our experience and can even be traded with Delta staff! Our time at the Delta Flight Museum was truly unforgettable. We can't recommend it enough, especially for families and aviation enthusiasts. With its reopening on April 7, 2025, it’s the perfect time to plan a visit.
